The Benarat 2020 Expedition was the 29th Anglo-Sarawak Expedition to Gunung Mulu National Park and operated in the field between 29th December 2019 and 17th January 2020. This was to be the last expedition before the Covid 19 pandemic. The expedition was based at Camp 5 in the Melinau Gorge with the specific aim of exploring caves within Gunung Benarat. Exploration was to take place within the Benarat Caverns System (Cobweb Cave) at the southern end of the mountain and within the Terikan River System to the north. The expedition was assisted by National Park Management, staff and local people.
