
The Benarat 2024 Expedition was the 32nd Anglo-Sarawak Expedition to Gunung Mulu National Park and operated in the field between 29th December 2023 and 21st January 2024. The expedition was based at Camp 5 in the Melinau Gorge with the specific aim of continuing the exploration of caves within Gunung Benarat. Exploration was to take place within the Cobweb Cave to explore thleads in the upper levels with potential for a connection with the Terikan River System to the north. A possible cliff face entrance was to be investigated within the Melinau Gorge which had proven difficult to access since 2018. The expedition was assisted by National Park Management, staff and local people.
